Food, food, and more food.
Go hard or go home!
“Have you been to Penang yet?” – I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have been asked this question, before I eventually said “YES, YES I HAVE”.
Famous for their amazing street food, Penang is a state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait. It has two parts: Penang Island, where the capital city – George Town is located, and Seberang Perai on the Malay Peninsula.
When my friends and I heard there was going to be a food festival in George Town, we booked our tickets and was on the next flight enroute.
Long story short, we was not disappointed! The food was an absolute dream.
We followed the food trail, and tried everything from their famous satays to Nassi Lemak (one of Malaysia’s most famous dishes!).
I couldn’t quite believe how cheap everything was here! Less than 1RM for a satay stick.. I ended up buying 20.
However, aside from their exquisite food, I was absolutely blown away by how much Penang had to offer!
Penang Street Art:
Famous for their street art, I thought I’d get involved!
This town is bursting with culture! My friends and I rented a tricycle and took a tour of the whole town in less than an hour.
Monkey Beach – Jungle Trek:
God. Where do I even start with this one! We done a 1:45hr trek from Penang National Park to Monkey Beach Island, and I could have sworn I was resurrected several times. This trek tested my fitness in every way, shape and form.
However, the end result was worth every second of pain I endured during that monstrous trek.
The beach also offered all “those” touristy activities – you know – horse riding, quad biking, jet skiing – and of course, I took part in all of them lmao.
What a fantastic little island this was! More than enough things available to keep you occupied.
So yes, I will have to ask you this question..
If you’re in Malaysia, have you been to Penang yet?
